I have been observing cloud formations all summer long ...longing to
put some of what I have both seen and photographed on canvas. Sorting through photos of past vacations, I
came across pics of a trip to White Sands, NM in the mid 1990's. Lynn
and I (along with our son) were visiting Lynn's brother and family in
Albuquerque . We extended our trip in order to visit the Carlsbad
Caverns and the White Sands. It was a rather stormy day.......clouds
moving fast and furious. Sand blowing everywhere. This was the second
time I had been to the White Sands. The first time was in the early
70's with my husband and his good friend Charlie Carruthers. The three
of us were there in the evening as the sun was setting....each taking
our own private seat upon the dunes. As I sat there in the stillness
(no storms.....just calm), I had my first amazing spiritual experience. I
truly connected with The Source at that time. It was amazing, to say the least. Wasn't quite the same
the second time around, but I was happy to share this wonderful place with
our son. This painting is a combination of the calm and the
storm.............the yin and the yang. Balance is the key. This is a place that will always be very near and dear to me.
If
you have a bucket list, and have not visited this amazing place, I
encourage you to add it to the list. As with the Grand Canyon, neither
photographs nor paintings can depict the experience of "being there".
